Suffolk Living
This project was a new built bungalow with a beautiful courtyard in the wild of Suffolk where fox and hare say good night. The peaceful, modern building has a roof garden and a pond in the courtyard. It was a delight to work with the owner and the building. It needed a few finishing touches such as furniture, curtains, rugs, artwork and for some of the heirloom pieces to be integrated.
The house is built on one level, offering a good overview of the space when entering. The task was to define the various areas, each to have a different look but to make them work together as a whole. We used sheer linen curtains along the seven meter long window to give the room a warm back-up without interfering with the simplicity of the architecture. The sheer linen is fresh and uncomplicated, adding warmth to the clean modernity of of the architecture without disturbing the spacial feel.
The Ventaglio table and Dordoni chairs for the dining area were already in place and had to be accompanied by a rug and artwork. These needed to provide personality and colour and again for each to be different, creating a dynamic, yet not busy atmosphere. Besides the furniture, which needed to offer comfortable, easy living, the client was very open to the artwork suggested. We looked at the dynamics of the space and how the art would be visible in relation to one another in the open space. We successfully found works that balanced all areas and the client reflected, the house had been given an invigorating ‘vitamin kick’. I am glad to be able to support people, finding just the right ‘tone’ for their home.
Customer review: I live in a modern, architect designed house in the Suffolk countryside. The house works well but with its modernity and a lot of glass, it lacked warmth and personality and needed to be made more comfortable and welcoming. Because the house with its architecture is very specific, the interior was more challenging than originally anticipated. Christina has helped me both to re-arrange existing furniture and select the right new pieces to be added for the completion of each space. We chose the wall colour and beautiful light linen curtains throughout the house giving it a warm feel without disturbing the general architectural style.
It also needed artwork, and this was the foremost reason that I asked Christina for her help. She suggested paintings, both originals and prints that have some vigour about them and make a personal statement and yet are varied and work well together. Christina achieved a great mix of interesting work to a budget and also advised on framing where required and took care of the details meticulously. I am very happy with the results of Christina's work and very grateful to her. I shall enjoy my house for many years to come.
