The price for wellbeing
The brighter time of the year is ahead of us, let the light in! How will we move forward, where will our focus be? What do we make of our time? How high will the bill be if we choose not to reset our priorities for lasting values?
We have possibly learned to live with ourselves in a less distracting way, better understanding what truly makes us who we are. Will we be more resilient going forward, making choices with greater care, not letting energy-vampires feed off our goodwill? Choosing more carefully with whom and how we spend our time, not letting media ‘News’ kill our will to live…. there are choices.
It is time to decide to live life on our own terms just a little bit more than we anticipated ever possible in the hamster-wheel of life. We often seem to believe only big events count, able to shake our world, making a difference, what a huge misunderstanding. We know, life is a fragile spider’s net, made from millions of tiny steps, each contributing to the whole, each important, carrying valuable assets however small. Every baby-step we take accrues a resonance, setting the tone for the present moment and so creating the quality and steppingstone for the next breath and the next.
If this is so, small matters, decisions, ideas, actions all count equally, however small, meaning, we do not have to ‘cook up’ a big plan to get our life rolling. Instead, it is enough and a good thing to revel in the present moment. The now is the only point where we truly are in power, the past can’t be changed, the future not yet revealed, instead breathe, breathe, just be. Claiming back personal power is an individual process, no one can do this for us. Too often we believe, fight is the only way forward. Fight has been given a superior position, through which we hope to be handed a batch of honour for our trials, is that so? There are alternatives worth exploring.
What I want to say is, small actions are perfect and enough, giving ourselves’ space to exist in-between all the ‘doing’, instead of constantly running. The old way of believing the ‘hard’ way is the way to go, making us better equipped to live life, has proven not to work. Society produces too many broken people. So why hang on to the conventions such belief dictates. What is the value of being compliant, fitting in, hoping to be approved of by others but on the altar of self-sacrifice, really?
What, if life does not need to be fought but simply lived, moment by moment, allowing us to be just the way we are, all included. Maybe we would experience less depression and much less confrontation both with ourselves and one another. This includes all life’s aspects, towards our-selves, our relation to others, people, animals, nature, the space we live in, our home and workplace. How we treat our surrounding and how we live reflects our values.
Start by setting personal values, what is worth living for? Once clear on that, suddenly eyes are opening, viewing the surrounding in a different way. To dig into the inner chambers of being is a challenge, but oddly, the space we live in can assist, strengthen, ‘hold hand’, providing guidance for better focus and clarity. Space is a great friend if we are willing to listen to it. If we take care of space, space takes care of us, forming a supporting synchronicity.
Our surrounding is an excellent mirror of the state we are in. If life doesn’t move the way we want, find out what doesn’t work in the home or office, or both, everything is reflected in one another. Where does the space feel uncomfortable, where does one need to make compromises? How long is the list of excuses for things on the waiting list to be dealt with or not even noted as one has learned to live with the discomfort of it. Space triggers the energy we create, translating into all areas of life, see what needs to be addressed, go, do it and revel in the relief.
All life is in constant motion, never stopping, we can’t hinder change, it’s like the waves in the ocean, question is where are we standing, how do we deal with changes, what choices do we make? Much will not be as it was yesterday, how will we navigate in the new territory of life?
Humanity needs to find its core value which includes everyone, no matter where we stand. No one wants to be stuck or a victim of circumstances, flickering like a light in the wind. How can we stimulate the inner process, supporting strength and focus, making better choices? Space can assist, is pragmatic, hands on, making visible what works and what doesn’t. A good flow in space supports our wellbeing as it simply makes us feel better, influencing other areas of life and vice versa. It’s straight forward, everyone can relate to physicality. Change inspires and with-it fresh ideas come along, everything is everything.
I am passionate about space which I see much undervalued, taken for granted. Space wants to be at our service, support us, protect us, be a companion. Finding its voice is finding a friend. When in balance, it helps us to feel more centred, stronger and at ease with ourselves. This has nothing to do with money, or any valuables.
Don’t know where to start? Be radical, be your own hero, give it all away, or most of it. Again, every momentum of change starts with a clean-out. For the body it’s fasting, clear out toxins, for the mind meditation, even short sessions are invaluable, strengthening the immune and nervous system, helping balance for better decisions to be made. Space ‘fasting’ brings perspective and re-evaluation of the goods we use and believe we need. Getting rid of things is getting rid of the idea one should live one’s life in a certain way. It is important to free our-selves from the obsession of how to best fulfil other’s expectations. Too often we give-up on our inner core, leaving ourselves at the wayside, then wondering why there is ‘something missing’ in our life. We need to step into our own power, start breathing properly.
The lockdown strains have drained us, living indoors for too long, not moving, loosing perspective. We have done some repair, made good what has been neglected and purchased this and that to make the space we use feel more valuable. If we are lucky, we have by now done a series of clean-outs, getting rid of all the ‘stuff’ that is long forgotten but still there, representing the ‘cobwebs’ of yesterday. What is the next step?
My suggestion is to downsize belongings further, get rid of more ‘stuff’, empty the space to be able to free oneself from all the myriad of things we believe we need but ultimately creating distractions. What is it we truly want from life and do we have a plan on how to action it? Do we want to be the hero of our life or are we the victim running other people’s expectations? How to know? The answer is within, the heart we often believe represents simple sentiment, softness, femininity, unclarity and so on. When in fact, the heart is who we truly are with all its pros and cons, making up the 'I am' person. To make a difference in our life we need to be brave, listen into the stillness of the heart, the only place where we can get in touch with the inner self, understanding what we actually want. It is the brain’s job to action what the heart is telling. The brain is the doer on the heart’s command. Respecting who we truly are sets us at peace with ourselves and others, no need to fight, instead be one’s own champion, able to embrace change in a constructive way. Life is moving and will be doing so ever more, it’s a good thing, we need new directions on all levels of existence. Here space comes in as a great supporter.
I constantly see how people don’t understand their space. Space can help freeing us from being too encapsulated in who we believe, we are. So much can be said about the dialogue between humans and space and how the two interact. So many miles have been written about it, yet still we don’t give space enough credit for its’ value, instead taking it for granted. It starts with the land we build on, the materials used and what aspects a building should incorporate to best support the people using it.
To create with thought means to give life substance. It is valuable to interact with ourselves and our space in a sound manner as it supports a more comprehensive, holistic way of wellbeing with all aspects woven into one another. Should you find it valuable to get assistance in finding just the right interior solutions for you, I am here to support you.
Wishing you a happy, sunny road ahead!
